Nhà DK Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first looked up Nhà DK on the map – tucked away in this tiny alley (ngách 52) off Trại Cá street in Hai Bà Trưng district. I mean, it’s not exactly where you’d think to look for a hotel, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it special. The neighborhood has this authentic Hanoi vibe that you just don’t get in the Old Quarter tourist bubble – you’ll hear motorbikes puttering by in the morning, smell phở cooking from street vendors, and actually see how locals live their daily lives. Getting there the first time was a bit of an adventure (the taxi driver had to call twice), but once you figure out the narrow entrance, you’re golden.
The place itself really surprised me – it’s got this boutique feel that punches way above what you’d expect for the price point. The rooms are actually thoughtfully designed, not just thrown together like some of the budget spots around Hanoi. I stayed there during the rainy season last year, and the soundproofing was impressive considering how thin the walls can be in these converted buildings. What really got me was the attention to small details – decent water pressure (thank god), proper blackout curtains, and they even had adapters ready without me having to ask. The staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure everything worked, which… well, let’s just say that’s not always a given in this price range.
Here’s the thing about the location though – while it’s not walking distance to Hoàn Kiếm Lake, you’re actually in a perfect spot to explore the real Hanoi. Trường Định street has some incredible local eateries that don’t see many tourists, and you can catch a bus or grab a xe ôm to get anywhere in the city pretty easily. The morning routine became grabbing coffee from this tiny café about two blocks away, then walking through the neighborhood watching the organized chaos of daily life unfold. I’d definitely recommend it if you want to experience Hanoi beyond the backpacker trail – just don’t expect to stumble back from late-night drinks in the Old Quarter on foot. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two there; it’s one of those places that does the basics really well without trying to be something it’s not.

Perfect location for our specific purpose, very helpful owner, communication through whatsapp worked well
What could be improved: small issues solved by owner quicklyGin from Taiwan – 7 May 2025 (9/10)
Owner was very nice and helpful, he always replied quickly, and helped us to sort out multiple things that make our stay in Hanoi much easier, we were very appreciate that.
We end up moved to the bigger room with balcony, with more money but great for the value too.
What could be improved: Only the pressure of shower were little bit low, otherwise everything worth for price.Peter from United Kingdom – 30 March 2025 (8/10)
It's a nice place.in a good location to explore the local life. The locals who live in this area are very friendly and the food options are diverse and cheaper than in the old quarter. The room is clean, the bed is comfortable, the ac works well and the owner is helpful and always available.
What could be improved: The room i rented is listed as a family studio. It's actually a small room with a double bed. definitely not enough space for a family but enough for one person.Sarah from Australia – 25 March 2025 (10/10)
Clean bed and room. Shared bathroom but was very clean and never saw anyone else. Everything you need for a few nights stay. Host was lovely and stayed up to let us in the early hours of the morning. Offered us soft drink and fruit and carried my very heavy bag too taxi pick up. 110% recommend. Value for money!

The stay was nice and homey. It was close to the university so there are a lot of food options and the wifi was great. Also close to the old Hanoi with 15 min grab. The staff are responsive and nice and the property is kept clean. I like they have slippers outside the door for you to use.
What could be improved: Nothing the staff were responsive and nice.Tom from United States – 12 March 2025 (8/10)
Host was proactive in reaching out before arrival and was always available and willing to help. clean, modern building interior, tile and parquet floors, modern full-size fridge for common use, firm but comfortable bed, clean and relatively new bedding and towels,
What could be improved: small but efficient room 8×10’. No garden, wardrobe/closet or private bathroom as advertised, a sequence of progressively narrower alleys to reach the Homestay (fine for me, but not for the claustrophobic), a bit loud (but not at night)Suraj from India – 24 February 2025 (10/10)
The owner of the property did all the help for us with a smiling face. He will make all arrangements for you like rental bikes and food if you need. even though the room is small in size the simple interior will feel you more comfortable.
What could be improved: only thing you should have a translator to convey your message because he doesn't know English. there is no attached toilet and lift in the propertyDanil from Russia – 13 February 2025 (10/10)
The room was very clean. The owner is a very friendly person eager to help you no matter what your question is.

What could be improved: All was good!Vivien from Germany – 16 January 2025 (10/10)
The room was really comfy and everything was really clean! It's a bit further from the old town, but it's really nice quiet at night, which we liked. The owners are really friendly and cute people, which gave us this cute present in the end! Thanks so much! We enjoyed our stay!
