Old town, super spacious, good price, comfortable 43 phùng hưng street Overview
You know what caught me off guard about this place on Phùng Hưng? The name is honestly a mouthful – “Old town, super spacious, good price, comfortable” – but they’re not kidding about any of those things. I mean, when you’re dealing with Hanoi’s Old Quarter, “spacious” usually means you can open your suitcase without hitting three walls, but this spot actually delivers on room size in a way that surprised me.
The location is pretty solid if you know the area – Phùng Hưng runs parallel to the train tracks, so you’re right in the thick of the Old Quarter chaos but just removed enough that you’re not dodging motorbikes every time you step outside. It’s maybe a seven-minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, and honestly, you’ll pass some of the best street food on your way there. The building itself has that slightly worn charm that most places in this neighborhood have – I wouldn’t call it polished, but it’s got character. Check-in was straightforward, though the English gets a bit choppy with some of the staff (nothing Google Translate can’t handle).
What really works here is that the rooms actually feel like rooms, not glorified closets. The beds are decent – firm but comfortable – and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a backpack. The bathrooms are clean, hot water’s reliable, and the AC works well, which matters more than you’d think during Hanoi’s sticky summer months. Now, about those train tracks I mentioned – yeah, you’ll hear them, especially if you’re a light sleeper. It’s not constant, but when a train rolls through (usually early morning or evening), you’ll know it. Some people find it charming in that “authentic Vietnam” way, others… well, pack earplugs just in case. The neighborhood gets pretty lively too – there’s a wet market nearby that starts buzzing around 6 AM, and the street food vendors keep things interesting until late.
For a 4-star rating, it delivers on the basics without any real frills – think clean, comfortable, and functional rather than Instagram-worthy. The price point makes sense for what you get, especially considering you’re staying in one of Hanoi’s most walkable areas. Staff tries hard even when the language barrier kicks in, and they’re good about helping with directions or calling taxis. Would I stay here again? Probably, especially if I wanted to be in the Old Quarter without paying premium prices for a tiny room. Just know you’re trading some peace and quiet for location and space – which, honestly, felt like a fair trade to me.

Reviews of Old town, super spacious, good price, comfortable 43 phùng hưng street
Chính from Vietnam – 10 June 2024 (7/10)
The location is very good. Host was nice. And I believe I have the best price in this area, suitable for a family trip. The bedrooms are very clean, bigger and better than I thought.
What could be improved: The entrance alley is pretty small, and the 1st floor was smelly. But I dont use the kitchen in 1st floor (bedrooms are on 2,3,4), thus it doesnt matter to me.
