What I really appreciated was the attention to small details that make a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The kitchen is actually functional (I made coffee there every morning using beans from the little shop around the corner), and there’s enough storage space that you can properly unpack instead of living out of a suitcase. The Wi-Fi is solid too – I worked from there a few days without any issues, which isn’t always a given in this part of the city.

Being on Kim Mã puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the Old Quarter to grab a taxi for under 50,000 VND, but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night. The neighborhood has this authentic feel – there’s a local market about a five-minute walk away where vendors know your face after a couple of visits, and honestly, some of the best bún chả I had in Hanoi came from a tiny place just down the street that doesn’t even have a proper sign. You’ll hear roosters in the morning sometimes (yeah, really, even in the city), and the family next door tends to have their TV on a bit loud in the evenings, but it all becomes part of the rhythm. The perfect 10 rating makes sense when you factor in that rare combination of genuine local experience with actual comfort – it’s not trying to be a fancy hotel, it’s just really good at being what it is.
