Silk Castle Hotel & Spa – Hanoi Old quarter Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Silk Castle Hotel & Spa – Hanoi Old quarter on Phố Cầu Gỗ, you immediately get that feeling you’ve found something special tucked away in the maze of Old Quarter streets. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy — instead, it’s got this understated elegance that feels authentically Vietnamese. The narrow frontage is typical for this part of Hanoi, but step inside and you’ll be surprised by how much space they’ve managed to create. I mean, the lobby alone has this calming vibe with traditional touches that don’t feel forced or touristy.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is probably the hotel’s biggest selling point — and recent guests seem to agree, consistently rating it highly for its prime spot. You’re literally in the heart of the Old Quarter, which means you can walk to Hoan Kiem Lake in about five minutes, and all those famous street food spots are right at your doorstep. What I really appreciate is that Phố Cầu Gỗ is just off the main tourist drag, so you get easy access to everything without the constant motorbike chaos right outside your window. Couples particularly love this area (the hotel gets high marks from romantic travelers), and I can see why — there’s something magical about wandering these ancient streets together in the evening.
The Room Experience
The rooms are well-designed for the space constraints of Old Quarter buildings — you know how these historic properties can be. Each room feels thoughtfully laid out, with modern amenities that actually work properly (which isn’t always a given in this price range). The beds are comfortable, and they’ve managed to fit in decent storage space, which travelers always appreciate. Air conditioning works well too, which you’ll definitely need during Hanoi’s humid months. The bathrooms are compact but functional, and the water pressure is surprisingly good for this part of the city.
Spa & Dining
The spa component is a nice touch that sets this place apart from other three-star options in the area. It’s not huge, but after a day of walking around the Old Quarter’s uneven sidewalks, having access to massage services right in your hotel is pretty convenient. They also have a restaurant that serves both Vietnamese and international dishes — the pho is actually quite good, though honestly, with all the incredible street food options steps away, you might find yourself eating out most of the time anyway.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this hotel work is how it balances authentic Old Quarter charm with genuine comfort and service. The staff clearly know the neighborhood well and can point you toward the best local spots that aren’t overrun with tourists. With an 8.3 rating, guests consistently mention feeling like they’re staying somewhere that captures the real spirit of Hanoi without sacrificing modern conveniences. The price point feels fair for what you get, especially considering that prime location — you’re paying for the address as much as the accommodation, and in this case, it’s absolutely worth it.

The staff were checking on me from the airport in Ho Chi Min until I arrived at Hà Nội airport. I took their option for transportation from the airport. It was the best decision ever as my flight was delayed four times and the driver waited for me until 3am. The location was perfect. It was surrounded by traditional Vietnamese culture.
What could be improved: Nothing, it was absolutely perfect.Pham from Australia – 30 November 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: A bit small room but can understand due to central locationDaniel from United Kingdom – 19 November 2024 (7/10)
Really nice staff who worked really hard. Great location right in the action of Hanoi. Breakfast was alright.
What could be improved: We felt like it was expensive for what you got in comparison to other places in Hanoi. The room was ok but felt a bit small, old and worn.Su from Malaysia – 1 November 2024 (9/10)
Strategically located at the busiest centre of the old quarter
What could be improved: Staff are very friendly and kind
