You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to The Chi Boutique Hotel on Nha Chung street – honestly, the entrance is pretty understated, almost easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. But that’s actually part of its charm, I guess. This place sits right in the heart of Hoan Kiem district, and I mean literally a few minutes’ walk from the lake itself. You can practically feel the energy of the Old Quarter without being stuck in the middle of all that motorbike chaos.

The thing that really got me about this hotel is how they’ve managed to nail that boutique vibe without trying too hard. The lobby has this clean, modern feel but with these subtle Vietnamese touches – not the touristy stuff you see everywhere, but actually tasteful pieces that feel authentic. Check-in was smooth, no drama there, and the staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood well. When I asked about where to grab good pho for breakfast (not the tourist traps), the front desk guy didn’t hesitate to point me toward this tiny place two streets over that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing groundbreaking, but everything works properly, which honestly is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in Hanoi. The AC actually keeps up with the humidity, the shower has decent pressure, and the beds are comfortable enough that I wasn’t tossing and turning all night. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being so central – I mean, you’ll still hear the occasional motorbike at night because, well, it’s Hanoi, but it’s not the constant street noise you get in some parts of the Old Quarter.

The location is really where this place shines though. You’re close enough to walk to Hoan Kiem Lake for those early morning strolls (which I’d totally recommend, by the way – it’s a completely different vibe before the city wakes up), but you’re also positioned perfectly to explore the narrow streets and markets without having to deal with the absolute madness of staying right on the main tourist strips. I found myself wandering down to the weekend night market pretty easily, and getting back to the hotel never felt like a trek. Plus, there’s decent coffee within a block or two if you need your morning caffeine fix before venturing out. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or anything, but The Chi does exactly what a good boutique hotel should do – it gives you a comfortable, well-located base without any unnecessary fuss, and the staff actually cares about making sure you have a good time in their city. For the price point and that 9-rating it’s earned, I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m in Hanoi.

  Hotel room was a clean and good sized with usual beverage packs and toiletries. The location was great with lots of cafes and restaurants near by. It was in a lively area near the Church.

  Really nice calm hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Old Town whilst still having everything on your doorstep. The room was clean and well designed, and the bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning!

  Lovely hotel situated not too far from the old quarter but still very busy, with cafes, shops and restaurants on the doorstep. Staff were super friendly and so polite. Breakfast was good and has all the basics that you need for the morning. Would definitely stay there again, should I ever return.

  Linh was phenomenal! She organized last-minute Tours for us all while keeping excellent communication through ‎WhatsApp, making sure we were well taken care of before, during and after our day! She is very professional courteous and honestly made staying here extra special!

We are from California, and we highly recommend those whose only speak English to come here because many of the staff are able to communicate quite well! This is a very safe, clean, beautiful hotel and their food was so delicious and abundant!

  The Chi was truly luxurious and beautiful. Event matches the photos, the room was extremely clean and comfortable. The shower was just the best, while soaking in the tub. The location is what caught my eye and didn't disappoint, right opposite the Cathedral. And walking distance to almost everything Old Quarter has to offer. Definitely staying at the Chi Boutique Hotel again on our next visit.
