You know what struck me first about The Five Residences? It’s actually tucked away on Doi Can Road in a way that feels deliberate – like they wanted to be close enough to everything but far enough from the motorbike chaos that defines most of Hanoi. I mean, you’re still in Ba Dinh District, so you’ve got the Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum within walking distance, but honestly, the street itself has this quiet residential vibe that’s pretty rare for a five-star spot in the city.

The building itself sort of surprised me – it’s not trying to be this massive glass tower like some of the newer hotels near Hoan Kiem Lake. Instead, it feels more like what you’d expect from the name, actually. More intimate, I guess? The lobby has this warm, almost apartment-like feel (in the best way), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No pretentious ceremony, just efficient and friendly staff who actually seemed to know the neighborhood well. When I asked about getting to the Temple of Literature, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he mentioned the specific alley shortcut that locals use, which saved me probably fifteen minutes of walking in that humid Hanoi heat.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to nail that balance between luxury and actually being livable. The rooms are spacious by Hanoi standards – and I mean genuinely spacious, not just “well, it’s not a shoebox” spacious. Big windows, decent soundproofing (crucial when you’re dealing with Vietnamese street life), and the beds are properly comfortable. The bathrooms have those rainfall showers that actually work, unlike some places where it’s more like a gentle mist. There’s something to be said for staying somewhere that doesn’t feel like you’re camping out in someone else’s idea of elegance, you know? Plus, the housekeeping staff clearly takes pride in their work – towels folded just so, but not in that over-the-top origami way that makes you feel guilty about using them.

Location-wise, you’re honestly in a sweet spot. Lieu Giai Ward isn’t where most tourists end up, but that’s actually the point. You can walk to Kim Ma for some excellent street food, or head toward the diplomatic quarter if you need that Western comfort food fix. The evening routine here is pretty perfect – Ba Dinh gets quieter after office hours, but you’re close enough to the action that a quick taxi or xe om ride gets you to the Old Quarter for dinner or drinks. I actually found myself coming back earlier than usual most nights because the neighborhood has this relaxed energy that’s hard to find in central Hanoi. That 9.4 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s the kind of place that gets the details right without making a big show of it.

  Loved our stay at The Five Residences in Hanoi. The 3 bedroom was huge, clean, modern and with all the essentials. The location was next to a great coffee shop and mini market that had fresh fruits and vegetables. There are many restaurants and shopping right outside the hotel, but be careful of the hundreds of scooters that fly by! We were a little wary of the local food and chose to eat at the hotel restaurant, which was great. Tons of breakfast options, both healthy and typical western dishes. Highly recommend it for families. Having lots of room to spread out with a full kitchen and washer/dryer combo made our trip more comfortable. Additionally, the Staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything.

  This is a great hotel for long stays and family-friendly. It’s located near the embassy area. There is a little grocery store in the building where we buy a few essentials. The room are equipped with pots and pans if you want to do basic cooking. The staffs are friendly and polite who always willing to help with a smile. The pool is fantastic, and it’s always empty. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.
  
  What could be improved: The hotel was clean however they missed the window which was dirty with finger prints when I arrived. Other than that it’s clean.

  Spacious, modern, and very convenient apartment. Residences staff and restaurant were operating at full swing even during the Lunar New Year period, which our family highly appreciated (including the routine pest control checkup, btw)
