Wilque Hotel Hanoi Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Wilque Hotel Hanoi? It’s tucked away on Cửa Bắc street in Ba Dinh, which honestly feels like finding a quiet pocket in what can be a pretty hectic city. I mean, you’re still in Hanoi – you’ll hear the occasional motorbike symphony – but this part of Ba Dinh has this almost residential vibe that I wasn’t expecting from a 4-star place.
The thing about this location is that you’re actually walking distance from some spots that most tourists miss entirely. There’s this little morning market about three blocks down where locals grab their bánh mì (and the coffee there is ridiculously good), plus you can easily walk to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum without dealing with the tourist bus crowds from the Old Quarter. The staff here gets that – they’ll point you toward the back entrance that locals use, which saves you about twenty minutes in line. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 2 PM because they seem to turn rooms over pretty quickly and you won’t be stuck waiting in the lobby.
What really works about Wilque is that it feels like they actually thought about how people use hotel rooms. The AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine (crucial in Hanoi’s humidity), and there are enough outlets near the bed that you’re not crawling around looking for places to charge your phone. The breakfast setup is solid – not fancy, but they do a decent pho alongside the continental stuff, and honestly, starting your day with real pho instead of hotel scrambled eggs makes a difference. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, though the walls are a bit thin, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. I stayed there during Tet season and could hear families celebrating in nearby apartments, which was actually kind of charming, but might not be everyone’s thing.
Here’s the deal – Ba Dinh isn’t where most first-time visitors end up, but if you’ve done the Old Quarter thing before or you’re looking for something that feels less touristy, this area works really well. You’re maybe a 15-minute grab ride from Hoan Kiem Lake, but you’re also close to West Lake and some of the better local restaurants that don’t have English menus plastered outside. The hotel’s rating of 8.6 feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does what it promises without any weird surprises. Plus, the price point makes sense for what you get, especially compared to some of the places in the Old Quarter that charge more for smaller rooms and way more noise.

Reviews of Wilque Hotel Hanoi

Nice, young and english speaking stuff. We were a bit late with check out but were told to no rush and had one more free hour to get fresh and leave the hotel. (Thanks Nhan!) Breakfast good, rooftop area is great, you can bring you own food/drink and chill in case you are not in the mood to go out.
What could be improved: They ask for 500k vnd deposit,
(A bit weird as you get rather dorm type room so not too many things to destroy there but it was one of the cleanest accommodation in Vietnam so not a big deal for responsible people because you get back the deposit at the end anyway).Gwendolyn from Canada – 14 April 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Breakfast subpar compared to usual breakfasts at other hotels in Vietnam

My husband and I stayed at the Wil’que for one week and had a lovely time! The room was super clean and comfy and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. We loooved the location and exploring Truc Bach! It is located on a busy street so if you’re sensitive to noise at night/early in the morning, you might want to ask for a room not on street side. Special thanks to Ms. Ly and Mr. Tu for exceptional service!

The hotel is new and modern and the rooms are very clean and comfortable and good value for money if you find a good deal.
They have a super free self service laundry which is really great if you’re travelling for longer time
Also good (and very clean) kitchen facility where you can both cook and store food in fridge.
The location is perfect if you want to be a bit away from the hectic old town in a slightly more local area with some nice restaurants and cafes and slightly less crazy traffic while still only a short 15 minute walk into the old town area.
Ms Ly and her colleagues at reception were both helpful and friendly and I had nice rooms on the higher floors away from any traffic noisesMy from Vietnam – 6 March 2025 (8/10)
Staffs, cleanliness, new facilities, laundry
What could be improved: Soundproofing and noisiness at night
Room is smaller than posted

We felt instantly welcomed as soon as we arrived, Tu on reception helped us settle in after a long flight and helped us with staying another night in the same room. We really enjoyed our daily breakfast, big thanks to Thanh for looking after us every day. Also big thanks to Hang on reception who made sure we had a very smooth check out. We loved the location for exploring Hanoi.

I loved everything about this property, the cleanliness, the central location, the staff’s kindness — especially Ms. Ly and Ms. Thanh and the lady who works evenings (I can’t remember her name). Everything was exceptional.
